Android Cosmological Calculator

Android Cosmological Calculator

This calculator allows the user to input user-selected values of the Hubble constant, Omega(matter), Omega(vacuum) and the redshift (z), and returns the current age of the Universe, the co-moving radial distance (and volume) and the angular-size distance at the specified redshift, as well as the scale (kpc/arcsec) and the luminosity distance. It allows the user the choice between open (Omega(vacuum)=0 ), flat (Omega(total)=1.0) or a "general" (arbitrary combination of Omega(matter) and Omega(vacuum)) universe.

This application will be installed on user's android device as a stand alone application. This calculator has been adapted from Ned Wright's Cosmology Calculator.

Android Cosmological Calculator has been developed as a part of the Virtual Observatory - India initiative by  the Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA) and Persistent Systems Ltd. (PSL). The VO-I project is supported by the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology of the Government of India.
