VOPlot interoperates with other client-side astronomy tools using two messaging protocols:
SAMP(PLASTIC) compatible applications like VOPlot, Aladin and Topcat can establish a layer of interoperability with each other. They can instruct each other to load VOTables, highlight a subset of rows or load an image of a particular area of sky. The functionality provided by SAMP and PLASTIC is mostly same.
